Thank you for round-about explaining why the market for "educational video games" is much larger than parents define it, and simultaneously smaller than they want it to be. As someone who did mediated-by-adults competitions I can confirm that parental viciousness is far worse than anything anyone has ever said in \all.

exactly!

the presence of arbiters who directly interfere with the competition makes many of the best (& hardest) lessons impossible to learn.

"Educational games" are always horrible affairs. Barely educational and not at all fun.
